Showings

Obama Presidential Center Tue, Sep 29 6:00 PM

Description

Bringing together documentary and narrative short films by Chicago-based and Chicago-connected filmmakers, the program celebrates the city's neighborhoods, artists, institutions, and communities through stories rooted in memory, creativity, resilience, and care. From Roseland and South Shore to the West Side and beyond, these films illuminate the people and places that continue to shape Chicago's cultural landscape while demonstrating the power of cinema as a tool for civic storytelling and collective memory.

The evening concludes with a conversation between Sylvia Ewing and jada-amina, reflecting on the role of Black cinema in documenting Chicago's past, engaging its present, and imagining its future.
