This special encore screening invites us to experience films from Chicago’s very own. FROM THE BLOCK brings together a constellation of filmmakers working across documentary, narrative, and experimental forms, whose work reflects everyday life through humor, intimacy, and close observation, shaped by place, memory, labor, and relationships. The program centers work that is specific, local, and lived, moving at the rhythm of daily life and the worlds their makers move through. This screening extends Black Harvest beyond the festival window, creating space to return to the work and sit with it together.
Program includes the following short films:
EVERYTHING IS EVERYTHING (dir. Kin Marie, 6 min.)
FROM SCRATCH (dirs. Somer Van Benton, Kate Wunderlich, 11 min.)
NYA DOES NOTHING (dirs. Erisa Apantaku, Jenny Casas, 12 min.)
TAKE 290 (dir. Sandrel Nicole Young, 16 min.)
